Our Leadership
We are assisted in everything we do by a core of dedicated, passionate camp professionals – our Leadership Team. Handpicked for their caring, creativity, and ability to work with youth, these parents, educators, artists, and coaches collectively and individually set the bar for the staff they supervise. We work together year-round to create the best possible summer experience.

Our Leadership Team

Our counselors also are carefully selected men and women – college students and professionals with education and camp experience. We are highly selective, identifying people who will be positive role models and who love working with children. Then, we employ multi-layered methods of checking their credentials, including background checks and personal references.

Because of our rigorous interview process, our staff is highly experienced and incredibly passionate. They are joyful, exuberant, and downright soul-nourishing folks who need only be themselves to help campers thrive.

Once hired, our staff must undergo our intensive training – numerous sessions and orientation led by former counselors, supervisors at camp, and some of the country’s leading child development experts. Our goal in staff development is to empower our counselors with the tools and techniques to become not only “big friends” to our campers but also to be their nurturing coaches in truly life-defining emotional situations.

Campers often see their counselors as how they themselves want to be. Our staffers are special people who get right in there and join the fun as participants. Cheering loudly. Singing energetically. Calling for group hugs. Coaching third. Returning a serve. These are big people who can dream just like they did when they weren’t quite so big. People who don’t let the realities that they may already understand get in the way of imagining and inventing.

At a time when it might be hard for children to find real heroes, our counselors act as outstanding role models. They encourage and guide our campers to be the very best they can be.
